*The presence of a casting director at a workshop is neither a guarantee nor a promise of employment. The intent of the class is solely educational. Attending a workshop is not a way to obtain employment as an actor. Such contact as you may have with a casting director at a workshop does not always result in any further contact with that casting director. The casting director has insight into the audition process. Should I look like my Headshot?

Question of the day: I was happy with my audition recently but i had a question...hope u don't mind. I tried to dress the part - even down to the red necklace character wore. My hair is long so i pulled it back and tried to look like character. Here's the question though - once i start to look more like character, i look less like me. You always say look like your headshot- that's your first promise. Which should i be doing? Look like my headshot or character?

Answer:
-it depends, I know you so in this case it would be for the character.
-if it is for a casting director you have never met probably your headshot.
-for commercial looking amazing, picture perfect.
-if it is a character piece may want to consider having your agent check with casting (ie: heroin addict, street walker, down and out mom etc).

Did you know?

Did you know: casting directors are on your side. You have been invited to audition often out of hundreds of submissions. You are one of just a handful that are selected. Know you are special just for getting an audition. We want you to do well. When you do well, we look good. Please prepare as we are counting on you to be creative and entertaining. That's your job. :)

Tip of the Day

My best advice about memorizing:

You say your lines and the other actor's lines "rote" over and over again - no emotion attached - while doing something else - like tying your shoes, driving in the car, doing the dishes, having a shower. Once you can do it four or five times without stumbling - you are memorized. If you are in the early stages of your acting career, still hold sides in hand as nerves could become the best of you.
